MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGN

The Motion Graphics or Motion Graphics Design is used to present and explain something in a video using Graphic Design. There is no French translation.

There are 3 parts in Motion Design:

- the design » part: that involves to understand the problem and to know who are the people targeted by the video

- the Graphic Design part: that means the technique used. For example: 2D animation, 3D animation, stop-motion, kinetic typography, film post-production, scribing, VFX...

- the Motion. part: this is a video so let’s animate!

We can note a difference between Motion Graphics andanimating (for example animation movies, cartoons or Japanese Animes).

The primary purpose of animation is entertainment, whereas Motion Design is more used to convey a message as effectively as possible to a targeted audience.

This is why motion graphics videos are short (from 20/30 seconds to 2 or 3 minutes max).

Ideally, a motion graphics explainer should not exceed 1min30. Beyond this duration, the message can be lost and people's attention as well.

Motion design is particularly suitable for explainers and institutional videos or even training tutorials.

Logo animation

Logo animation allows you to quickly attract the attention of the public and therefore improve the perception of a company or a brand by this same public.

Elle donne une sensation de dynamisme et de modernité qui contribue à la visibilité et à la mise en valeur des entreprises qui l’utilisent.

Their communication is more effective and this helps improve their notoriety by allowing them to stand out from their rivals.

Video Editing

All the videos for phone applications were realized during my collaboration with the advertising agency Apptamin.

The goal was to combine motion graphics video editing and special effects to promote the apps.
In the videos above, most of the special effects consist in cleaning up the rushes registered in the phone app, in order to present its operation.
Then, the footage is edited to explain this functioning.
At last, the video is brought out with motion graphics to galvanize the whole video. We add kinetic typography. We point out specific features of the app (zoom, tap, highlight…). In conclusion, we work to make the video entertaining and attractive.

The Super Mario Bros video is a video tracking exercise.

Motion tracking is a skill that consists in analyzing the movements and trajectories of an object or a specific point in a video, in order to apply them to a new graphic element that then will be integrated into the video. Here, the graphic elements are blocks and pipes, but it can be a title, another image/picture or even something animated in 3D.

Scribing

Here, all of the illustrations were designed by Lionel Paolini.

Whiteboard animations are characteristic videos where we find a hand illustrating on a whiteboard, the speech narrated by the voice-over.

All the motion graphics videos above use whiteboard animation to enable the synthesis and simplification of complex information.
In these videos, thanks to whiteboard animation, we were able to facilitate everyone’s understanding of a complex documentation of around a hundred pages. All of that with a 2 minutes video maximum!
